Charlotte Video footage-Less than an hour old

I've finally gotten around to uploading some of the videos that Gramma Kari took, so as they get uploaded I'll post them here.

First up, her very first video. This is the first time I get a good look at her!

For some reason I always wanted to hold my baby like this when I was thinking about having one, and it is just as cute and snuggly as I imagined!

Day four addendum

I still don't quite understand diapers. I don't really like using them but mom and dad won't take them off unless I have done something in them. My plan lately is do something small in them and the take advantage of the changing time to let everything out...today I peed on daddy. He said something about being glad I'm not a boy...little does he know that i just have to learn to arch my back more.

My first checkup

Day four,
I slept well last night and only woke up two or three times. I like sleeping in my bassinet next to mom and dad's bed, but I like being held even more. I woke up at 8am and mommy gave me a bath and got me all cute and dressed up to go to the doctors. I liked the doctors, I didn't have to wait very long and they were nice to me! I am only down to 6 lbs 15 oz, so I should back to my birth weight by this weekend! That is way early, they said normally it takes two weeks. I must be a good eater and mommy is a great feeder!

I don't have anything even slightly wrong with me, so I don't have to go back for a month. Although they have to take me to get something called 'tests' done soon at a lab....I hope they are multiple choice!

After an hour of fussing and trying to suck on her hand (and already having been fed twice in two hours) we discovered that, shockingly, pacifiers perform exactly as their name suggests!

Of course she opened her eyes as soon as I started writing this message! Still cute even with no eyes.

I love it when babies look grumpy and Charlotte has the cutest grumpy face ever :)

Round two: into the princess suite

I am feeling useless so I figured I would do an update. They tried to send us home but our awesome doctor happened to be in the building and wouldn't let them.

We got into a room known as the princess suite, it is a HUGE room as it is in the corner. Our doctor is here (we only had a one in five shot at getting her so Yay!) and just broke her water, and they are hooking her up to the IV as I type. As soon as I know anything else I'll post it! We are having a baby!!!!

Round one over, waiting for round 2

Well, they sent us home because they thought she would be more comfortable having these early (but very real) contractions in her own bed. She didn't dilate any farther in the 2 hours we were there, so they are afraid it might be slow going. At least we got all our paperwork filled out and have our routine down! We expect to head back up soon, just relaxing as long as she feels comfortable.

Maternity Triage: Round One

Contractions this morning were plentiful long and strong, so we decided to go to triage get her on the monitors. So far the nurse has said 'well, you're definitely having plenty of contractions, and look to be at minus one station, 90% efaced, and 4cm.' We went on a walk and are now waiting to see if her cervix changed.

After looking at the monitor, it's no wonder I sucked at timing contractions....she has two peaks with a valley between them for each contraction! Noone said anything about two headed contractions, so I wasn't considering that as a possibility when she was describing them to me.

Will this just be a dry run? Will we actually manage to do this in one shot? Stay tuned to find out!

Hopefully our last prenatal visit

We are sitting in the ob's office waiting for what is hopefully our last prenatal visit. I am getting so excited...I can't wait to hold Charlotte!

The worst part of this trimester for me has been the waiting. The hospital bag is ready, the car seat is, well I still need to do that....however, the nursery is ready, the blog is up, and we are ready to rock and roll! Charlotte sector, come on down!

I was almost intentionally late--the one time they got Debbie in as soon as she got here was the time I was ten minutes late...the whole appointment was over when I got there, whereas we have been here ten minutes already now.

This entry is a combination brain dump, nervous fidget, and test of the Charlotte broadcast system...[good thing, too...I didn't have it configured right!] If there is any news of progress you'll find it here in about an hour!

Thanks for all the votes, it's great to know so many people are looking forward to meeting my daughter :-) I am at the top of that list!
